Virat Kohli should play himself: Ranbir Kapoor | The Express Tribune

Actor Ranbir Kapoor, whose impressive career spans light-hearted romcoms to essaying veteran actor Sanjay Dutt in 2018 biopic Sanju to critical reception, will not be donning a cricketer’s uniform on set anytime soon. Appearing on sports show King Surpasses God with host Jatin Sapru, Ranbir discussed the India vs New Zealand semi-final and his enthusiasm for cricket.

The actor put in his two cents on a prospective Virat Kohli biopic when Jatin prompted his interest in playing the renowned Indian batsman. “If a biopic is made on Virat Kohli, then he should play his role because he looks better than many actors,” Ranbir replied. He further commended Virat’s fitness and suitability to act his own part.

A picture featuring Ranbir at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium has also gained traction on social media. The actor looked effortlessly stylish in a casual blue suit and black sunglasses while engaging in conversation with former cricketer and presenter Harbhajan Singh and Ravi Shastri.

Ranbir is eagerly anticipating the release of his upcoming movie Animal helmed by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film features a stellar cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri, and is scheduled to hit theaters on December 1, 2023. Additionally, he is reportedly set to appear in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana and the second installment of Brahmastra.

Earlier, the A-lister took to social media for a forthright talk with fans about Ramayana and Animal he called the latter “the darkest film” he’s ever done, nodding at his character’s gritty outlook towards life. The Sanju star also commented on the remarkable physical transformation he underwent to bring it to life.

He disclosed, “For Animal, I had shaved my hair! For the last scene, I had done that. So now I am growing my hair. Since I am not working on any film, I am eating a lot, and not following any diet. I have changed my entire lifestyle. I have quit smoking, so I am eating a lot of chocolates.”
