A house for sale in Sydney has been deemed so “dilapidated” that home buyers have been told they can only view the property in a ‘drive-by’ inspection.
Described as a “blank canvas new home site”, the four-bedroom house, at 78 Alfred Street in Annandale, in Sydney’s inner west, has a severely damaged roof, boarded up windows and a broken front door.
“The condition of the property means it is not suited to physical open home inspections, Michael White from real estate agency BresicWhitney Inner West told news.com.au.
Instead, potential buyers can drive by the “knockdown rebuild” property, situated on a 221 sqm corner block, before it goes to auction on September 30.
The real estate agency is unable to provide a price guide for the property, which is located in a suburb with a median house price of $1,975,000, according to Domain.
Photos shared on the Domain listing show sections of the property have been fenced up with a metal gate, while the backyard is overgrown and littered with household items including a pet carrier.
The floorplan does not provide buyers with any further details of the layout of the property, which is simply described as a “dilapidated structure”.
Despite its damaged exterior, Mr White said “it’s a great chance for a purchaser to build a new home and write the next chapter for this corner block, be it an owner-occupier, investor, or builder”.
“A rare land-value-only opportunity, the setting offers good separation from other homes, and the potential to build your dream residence (subject to council) amid garden surrounds,” the listing reads.
“Not many of these left in Inner Sydney.”
