Target recall of popular kitchen item

Major retailer Target has warned that a popular food preparation product has a serious defect that can lead to severe injuries.

Target has recalled the Ayonz-made Brooklyn rechargeable mini food chopper BMC-300, which slices up food in a glass bowl, after customers suffered cuts.

The machine can operate even when not attached to the bowl, exposing consumers to the chopper’s rotating blades.

“There is a risk of serious injury including lacerations. This defect has occurred and caused injuries,” the product safety division of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said this week.

The ACCC says people should immediately stop using the product and return it to Target for a full refund.

The metallic food processor was sold by Target online between June 8 and August 7 this year.
