NTPC saw improved PLF to 73.53% from 66.01% in the corresponding quarter last year.

State-owned power producer NTPC Ltd.’s standalone net profit rose 14.3% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹5,320 crore in the September quarter, aided by higher electricity generation and improved operational efficiencies amid increased power demand following deficient monsoon rainfall.

The company’s commercial generation increased 11.1% to 92.413 billion units (BU) during the quarter.

Its plant load factor (PLF), a measure of how efficiently a power plant utilises its installed capacity, improved to 73.53% from 66.01% in the corresponding quarter last year.

Average realisation from power tariffs also edged up to ₹5 per unit in the first half of the current fiscal from ₹4.90 per unit in the year-ago period.

Revenue from operations increased nearly 17% YoY to ₹45,752 crore in the September quarter.

On a consolidated basis, NTPC reported a 40.7% jump in net profit to ₹7,351 crore. The growth was largely driven by a 73% increase in profits from subsidiary companies to ₹1,990 crore.
