My Home: Tropical prestigious Brisbane riverfront retreat hits the market

After 18 years of raising their family at their prestigious riverfront enclave, Jane and Kim Pradella knew their time was up at the property.

For the couple and their children, it was love at first sight when they set their eyes on 61 Longman Terrace, Chelmer.

“We fell in love with the home instantly. Our kids, who were six and nine at the time, also loved it; it had a relaxed and tropical feel about it. Over the years, we’ve had our kid’s 18th birthdays, I had my Fijian-themed 50th birthday with about 150 people and Christmases,” Ms Pradella said.

“Our balcony doors open up to a covered outdoor area, allowing you to have this massive indoor-outdoor space to look out onto the 20-metre lap pool.

“The kids were upset when we told them we were downsizing, but we felt it was time. We have downsized to a beautiful apartment on Coronation Drive. It’s a very different lifestyle, and I’m still getting used to it. I always believe there are stages in your life that you come to a T-junction, and you have to make the right decision for your wellbeing and your life.”

Ms Pradella said she misses her grocery shopping ritual that she would always do after running her errands.

“I would come back home, unload the shopping and sit on the back deck reading the newspaper as I look out onto the river. That was my ritual every day. I miss the flora and fauna of our Chelmer home.

“The home is a house for a family, and I hope the new family will have happy, fun and fond memories like we did. We enjoyed the different stages when the kids grew up; the house grew with our children. When the kids went to uni, we were within walking distance to Chelmer Station. We also used to walk to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.”

Property agent Ann-Karyn Fraser from Place Estate Agents, New Farm, said the property was a rare and magnificent opportunity for buyers.

“We’ve had a broad range of buyers locally, interstate and ex-pats, wanting to upgrade to a riverfrontage home. The property has such a unique design, it’s like a resort, you feel like you’re going on holiday,” Ms Fraser said.

“We’ve had a great response to the marketing campaign from buyers who love the home’s design, the 20m lap pool and the river frontage.

“Across the Brisbane property market, we’re seeing a strong buzz created from high-end properties due to the lack of stock being much lower than the demand we have going at the market.”

Expressions of interest for 61 Longman Terrace, Chelmer, are open until Tuesday, November 14. Potential buyers can contact Ann-Karyn Fraser or Sarah Hackett from Place Estate Agents, New Farm, on 0419 708 094 and 0488 355 553.
