Huge blow for vegan activist

Controversial vegan activist Tash Peterson has had her Instagram account shut down.

WA activist Tash Peterson disappeared from the social media platform on Monday.

She has since reverted to her another account, posting photos from a trip to Norway’s Northern Lights on Wednesday.

Some Instagrammers commented on her post and expressed dismay at the apparent cancellation.

It is not clear why her account was shut down, however, it is not the first time.

“Ughhh I hate how they keep banning your IG account. I never understood what do they profit off of it,” one fan wrote.

“Damn your Instagram got banned again by the (snow) patrol..” another wrote.

“Account number 6? I’ve lost track, so sorry they keep taking it down and banning you, never EVER give up.”

Ms Peterson replied saying: “Haha yes so frustrating! I sure won’t”.

Some of these comments have been removed.

The Perth-born activist is a controversial figure.

She has protested high-end stores smeared in blood and red liquid to call attention to what she sees as human abuse of animals.

On June 30 this year, she protested the high-end Frye restaurant in Perth after chef John Mountain banned vegans from his establishment.

Mr Mountain is suing Ms Peterson for defamation, claiming social media posts published on her Facebook and Instagram accounts had caused damages to his business.

Meta has been contacted for comment.
