Bajaj General Insurance has launched ‘My Family Complete’, a health insurance plan that expands the definition of family to include pet dogs and cats.

The plan aims to address fragmented health protection by bringing human family members and pets under a single insurance policy. It offers sum insured options ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹5 crore, with policy tenures of up to five years and a combination of indemnity- and benefit-based payouts. Dogs and cats aged three months and above are eligible, with no upper age limit.

Bajaj General Insurance MD and CEO Tapan Singhel said insurance needs to evolve with changing lifestyles and family structures. “When pets are family, their health and wellbeing naturally become a part of the family’s healthcare needs. We are responding to this need by bringing pets into the family health insurance fold,” he added.

The policy covers in-patient hospitalisation, room rent, road and pet ambulance services, pre- and post-hospitalisation expenses, domiciliary care, modern treatment methods, AYUSH hospitalisation (for humans), organ donor expenses and family visit reimbursements.

For pets, the plan includes benefits such as reimbursement for advertising and rewards when a pet goes missing, emergency pet accommodation if the pet parent is hospitalised, and third-party liability coverage for injury, death or property damage caused by the insured pet.
