In the recent release Animal, Ranbir Kapoor takes on the role of a rich, bratty, violent son, showcasing his versatility amidst a backdrop of relentless bloodshed. While the film has garnered attention for its gripping performances, thrilling music, and intense scenes, fans are also showering praise on the film’s production design.

According to Hindustan Times and Indian Express, what adds to the allure is the revelation that the opulent residence depicted in the movie is none other than the iconic Pataudi Palace, situated near Delhi.

The grandeur of Pataudi Palace, currently owned by Saif Ali Khan, takes centre stage in Animal, serving as the luxurious setting for Ranbir’s on-screen family. Interestingly, fans have noted the striking similarities between the film’s interiors and the actual Pataudi Palace, confirming that the regal residence indeed plays a pivotal role in the movie’s visual appeal.

This architectural gem, also known as Ibrahim Kothi, is nestled in the town of Pataudi in Haryana’s Gurgaon district. Originally constructed by Saif’s grandfather, the Nawab of Pataudi, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, the palace has a rich history steeped in royal heritage. The property came into Saif’s possession after his father, the late cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan, and was later repurchased by Saif from a hotel company. Notably, Pataudi Palace is currently inhabited by Saif’s mother, the esteemed actor Sharmila Tagore, adding another layer of familial connection to Ranbir’s presence in the palace during the filming of Animal.

Spread across a sprawling 10 acres, the palace boasts 150 rooms, including seven dressing rooms, bedrooms, and billiard rooms. Its lavish interiors feature large hallways, tall arches, and an abundance of artwork, creating an ambience of regal sophistication. The property’s lush green gardens further enhance its visual appeal, offering a picturesque backdrop for the cinematic narrative of Animal.

Valued at a staggering INR800 crore, Pataudi Palace has not only hosted the intense drama of Animal but has also been a sought-after location for several other prominent films. Hollywood star Julia Roberts’ Eat Pray Love, along with Bollywood hits like Mangal Pandey, Veer Zara, Gandhi: My Father, and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, have all utilised the palace’s grandeur for their cinematic storytelling. Interestingly, Saif’s own Prime Video series, Tandav, found its backdrop in the regal corridors of Pataudi Palace, further solidifying its status as a versatile and captivating location for both Bollywood and international productions. 

As Animal continues to captivate audiences, the revelation of Pataudi Palace’s starring role adds an extra layer of intrigue to the film’s narrative, blending cinematic brilliance with the rich history and opulence of this iconic royal residence.
