Rockstar Games, developers of the highly-acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series of games, have announced that the much-anticipated first trailer for the series next instalment would be released on December 5 at 14:00 GMT.

The announcement by the company on X platform garnered 26 million views in under two hours of posting. Grand Theft Auto 5 was released 10 years ago and became the second best-selling video game ever behind Minecraft, and sold over 185 million copies.

The upcoming game was first confirmed to be in production in February 2022.

Fans faced an extended wait for the release of the new game, which vouches for the popularity of the game. GTA has re-mastered several earlier games on three different consoles.

Rockstar Games was also focused on GTA Online, the multiplayer version of the game, which reportedly earns hundreds of millions of dollars for the company each year.

It has yet to be announced when GTA 6 will be released after its trailer launch.
