‘He sent me that wave’: Laura Enever pays tribute to Olympian Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin

The Chumpy Pullin Foundation strives to make a difference for young people in marginalised communities by providing a pathway into sport for men, women, and Indigenous Australians.

The foundation honours Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin, an Australian Olympic snowboarder who tragically passed away in 2020 in a freediving accident.

The foundation focuses on issues of mental health, education, environment and community and aims to “break down barriers to provide support and inspiration for every Australian to participate and grow through sport and life”.

Big wave surfer and personal friend of Chumpy, Laura Enever recently broke the world record for the largest wave ever paddled into and surfed by a female and claims she had some help on the day.

“Out there I was speaking to Chumpy and I know that he sent me that wave out there and helped me just commit and back myself,” she told Sky News Australia.

“Love you Chumpy.”
