Goldman Sachs on Thursday promoted 608 employees to the role of managing director, a smaller group than the last class two years ago.

The 2021 class was a record, with 643 employees promoted to managing director. But the 2023 class is still much bigger than the previous few classes before the pandemic. The 2019 class, for example, had 465 employees.
