Diljit Dosanjh became the first Punjabi artist to headline London’s Wembley Stadium on September 12, performing for a crowd his team estimated at around 90,000 as part of his Aura World Tour.

Hours later, midway through the concert, he announced the next stop: a show at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on November 21, addressing the crowd partly in Gujarati as he made the announcement.

But the moment fans are still replaying is not the announcement. It came earlier in the Wembley set, when Dosanjh shifted into a rendition of Saanso Ki Maala, the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan classic, stripping back the production so that his vocals and the song’s devotional core could carry across the stadium.

Phone lights went up across the crowd as he sang, while clips of the performance — and the roar that greeted his opening line — spread quickly online.

It was not the first time Dosanjh had used a major stage to nod towards Pakistan.

His cross-border duet moment with Hania Aamir, who joined him on stage during a London concert before the two went on to share the screen in Sardaar Ji 3 , became one of the more talked-about crossovers in recent Punjabi cinema. Dosanjh later praised her professionalism on set, even as the film was pulled from Indian theatres.

With Wembley done and Ahmedabad confirmed for November 21, ticketing details and the rest of the tour’s India leg were yet to be announced.

Dosanjh had previously toured India in late 2024 with his Dil-Luminati tour, including a stop in Ahmedabad.
