Stresses woman’s right to refuse regardless of money spent on her, wins celebrity support

Actor Urwa Hocane’s message on harassment, emphasising that “no means no” and highlighting issues of ego and self-worth, received mixed reactions from fans online.

In a video posted on Instagram, Hocane spoke at length on the subject, stressing a woman’s right to refuse a man regardless of any money he may have spent on her.

“I keep wondering how difficult could it be to understand that even if a woman was with you until a minute ago, and you claim that you spend money on her till then, the moment she says ‘no’, it is a no.”

The actor added, “And the moment she says it’s over, that’s exactly when it’s over. Please try and get that straight through your ego and ego, by the way, is a fear response that tells you how you perceive threats towards your fragile self-worth and attempts to control.”

She concluded her message saying, “Bottom line, anytime someone says back off and you don’t, it is harassment.”

Several celebrities praised Hocane for speaking out in support of consent and boundaries.

However, some argued that both men and women can be at fault in such situations.

One user also highlighted the negativity in the comment section, noting that “gifts in relationships are not loans or transactions.”

Hocane’s message and the subsequent public reaction reflect ongoing societal challenges in fully recognising and addressing issues of consent and harassment.
