Indian Oil is maintaining crude oil stock for more than a month whilst supplies of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) have been disrupted, though they too are being maintained to ensure that they are adequately available across the country, Anuj Jain, Director of Finance at the Delhi-headquartered refiner, told investors in an analyst call Tuesday (May 19, 2026).

“We do not have any shortage of either crude oil or LPG. Crude oil inventories are still being maintained for over a month,” Mr. Jain stated, adding, “LPG inventories have come down, but it is still being managed so that we have enough LPG availability pan-India basis.”

Mr. Jain also told investors that while supplies of bottled hydrocarbon cooking gas had been an initial constraint, the oil-marketing company was able to diversify their sources of procurement.

“LPG had a constraint, but [we] have managed to diversify our sources and reasonably good quantity of LPG has been made available, and that is why constant supply across the country has been ensured across all our distribution channels,” he stated.

Further, responding to a query about the oil-marketing company’s ability to source enough liquified natural gas amid the elevated demand from city-gas distribution, the company stated there exists pricing issue than a supply constraint.

“There are no constraints in the availability of [liquified natural] gas as such [globally], it is only the pricing issue actually,” Mr. Jain stated, adding, “It is more of a decision whether you pass on this to consumers or [absorb within] your internal system.”

He informed investors that Indian Oil also diversified their spot procurement from Indonesia, Nigeria, Angola and Oman.
