A working group has been formed to study the impact on supplies of aluminium scrap amidst the escalating tensions in West Asia and suggest recommendations, Piyush Goyal, Secretary at the Ministry of Mines, told reporters on Tuesday (April 28, 2026).

Escalating tensions in West Asia have contributed to a spike in prices of imported scrap with secondary aluminium producers seeking a relaxation in import duties.
