Gomez took to her Instagram story to share photos from the concert, writing, “I am in tears. This was hands down one of the best shows. Oh, and the vocals? Psh blown away.”
She also posted a backstage photo of the singers together, accompanied by a heart emoji. Fans spotted Gomez in the crowd as well, dancing in a Lovato hoodie.
Along with Gomez’s attendance, the concert also delivered other Disney-era throwbacks. Lovato’s Camp Rock co-star Joe Jonas made a surprise appearance, joining her on stage to perform fan-favourite hits like This Is Me and On the Line.
Gomez and Lovato, once known for their close friendship, rose to fame during their Disney days, starring together in 2009’s Princess Protection Program. Over the years, however, rumours circulated that the pair had a falling out. Much of the speculation dates back to around 2010, when Gomez grew closer to Taylor Swift. At the time, both were rumoured to be dating members of the Jonas Brothers, fuelling rumours of a rift between Gomez and Lovato.
In later years, both Gomez and Lovato acknowledged that they had drifted apart.
While some fans speculated that the singers had tension between them, others believe they simply grew apart as their lives evolved, particularly due to Gomez’s health struggles and Lovato’s highly publicised near-fatal overdose and recovery journey. The stars were, however, rumoured to have been reaching out to each other during their medical recoveries.
In 2025, Gomez reflected on her Disney-era friendships during an appearance on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, saying she was happy to see her former co-stars including Lovato, the Jonas Brothers, and Miley Cyrus, “do their thing” as adults.
Lovato also spoke positively about Gomez that same year during an appearance on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, saying, “I couldn’t be happier for her. She’s engaged – I just wish her the best.”
