Manhas confirmed as BCCI president-elect

Mithun Manhas, former Delhi captain, has been confirmed as the president-elect of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He will be elected unopposed at the Board’s annual general meeting on Sunday.

On Monday, the election officer A.K. Joti, after scrutinising the nomination papers, announced the list of valid nominations, with only one candidate for each post following internal consultations with key political leaders to finalise the next set of office-bearers.

Meanwhile, Arun Dhumal will continue as chairman of the IPL governing council. Having served as BCCI treasurer (2019–22) before taking charge of the IPL in 2022, his eligibility was reviewed to confirm that the governing council does not fall under the BCCI office-bearer category. With no cooling-off period required, Dhumal was retained in the role.

Valid nominations: President: Mithun Manhas; vice-president: Rajeev Shukla; secretary: Devajit Saikia; joint secretary: Prabhtej Singh Bhatia; treasurer: A. Raghuram Bhat; apex council member: Jaydev Niranjan Shah; IPL governing council member: Arun Singh Dhumal, M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar.
