Airtel’s network was down in several areas across Tamil Nadu on Tuesday (May 13, 2025) evening.

Consumers were not able to call each other. However, mobile data services were functioning.

Consumers from Madurai and Coimbatore took to X and posted messages saying that their network was down. Consumers also complained that they could not get through customer service and started posting on X using #Airtel_down.

Airtel’s Public Relations team did not provide details on the issue, at the time of publication of this article on Tuesday night.

Later on May 14, the customers received a clarification from Airtel as a text message (SMS). It read: “Last evening, we encountered a network outage in few areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Our team worked diligently overnight to resolve the issue. Our services have been fully restored. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.”
